Yeah yeah, I know I literally just did an Ulta haul last week. But that’s in the past okay. I live in the now. We’re in quarantine. I have a shopping addiction to maintain. So we’re doing a Sephora Haul – don’t @ me.
To enjoy me unboxing this in real time, check out my latest YouTube video!
I drive a lot. Like that’s probably an understatement. Having spent the majority of this year without a permanent residence, I DRIVE A LOT. So naturally, I worry about premature aging on my hands. Studies show that with anti-aging products, people no longer judge age by looking at the person’s face, but rather by looking at their hands. And honey I keep my face looking fresh to death and I’m not about to let that slide because my stupid hands are acting up.
I bought this because I love the Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen; it has a unique formula that is extremely comfortable and works so well with makeup. So when I saw the Handscreen, I figured this could be exactly what I’m looking for.
Well here’s the thing. Upon further inspection, post-purchase of course, I noticed that nowhere on this page does it actually specify that this product is designed for your hands. So, here’s to assumptions, I guess?
Upon a little bit of testing over these past few days, this very well could be just another lotion. But if that’s the case, it’s still a great lotion and I kinda love it. Similar to the Unseen Sunscreen, this Handscreen dries down almost completely matte and doesn’t leave an icky, oily sunscreen film either. 10/10
I 👏 LOVE 👏 THE 👏 BUM 👏 BUM 👏 FRAGRANCE 👏 SO 👏 MUCH 👏
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t love every product that comes out in this scent, but man do I love the scent every time. So why not just cut to the source, right?
I’m not usually a body mist person; personally I prefer a perfume because body spray wears off so quickly that it almost feels wasteful. However, I bought this body mist because it is just the perfect scent for Summer and something convenient that I can just spray and go seemed like a nice thing to have for those stereotypical summer day activities. Yes, I know Summer is basically over, let me live my life okay.
I was quite surprised at the size of this product; I bought the mini size to just toss it in my bag and go, but she’s a hefty bottle honey. The amount of product for the price is great, but in my mind the “mini” version was significantly smaller. Again, not mad about it.
One thing that I’m mot particularly thrilled about, however, is the longevity of this spray. Again, I went into this spray knowing that body sprays don’t last but I was just a few hours into this before it had completely faded, so I think this is going to be more of a beach day fragrance that I can comfortably reapply throughout the day.
Also, although I absolutely adore the smell of this spray, it’s so rich that I’m almost glad it fades throughout the day. It’s a little overwhelming so using it in an outdoor setting is preferable either way.
This is a staple in my routine. I use this product pretty much every day. I’ve spoken about it plenty of times before and I pick at least one up almost every time I make a purchase at either Sephora or Ulta. Long story short, I love this thing. Long story long, you can read about it here, or watch a really really really old video about it here.
This lip bundle contains the Lancome Jucy Tube in the shade 07 Magic Spell. I actually didn’t try this gloss because it’s a favorite of a friend of mine so I’m gonna pass this along. Don’t hate me!
Another product that I’ll be passing along is the Fenty Gloss Bomb in the shade Fu$$y. I already have this product and although I enjoy it on occasion, it’s a little gloopy for my tastes and I don’t find myself reaching for it much.
This gloss is not my cup of tea. It’s not inherently bad by any means. It actually looks quite nice. It’s a bit sticky and it has a bunch of micro glitter in it so the shine is unreal, but I’m not a sparkly lip kinda girl. I’m sure this would be lovely on top of a nude lip, but I really can’t see myself wearing this on its own.
I had had my eye on this gloss for a while because everyone always talks about how painful it is, so I figured it must work, right? Why else would people endure such agony?
Welp, I’m here to tell you folks that not only is it not painful, it does very little to plump your lips. I’ll use this as a gloss on top of other lipsticks. I truly didn’t see much of a difference, but it was a nice juicy looking gloss.
THIS IS WHERE IT’S AT. I am obsessed with this balm. Listen, you might think I’m crazy for buying a whole sampler box to only end up liking one, but hear me out. This balm and the Fenty gloss were both full sized products, and it was only $1 more than just buying this balm outright. That sounds like a steal to me???
This balm is so hydrating and smooth, I would go so far as to say it’s one of the most moisturizing balms I’ve used. In addition to being actually useful, it’s also gorgeous. It’s got this barely there pink tint to it with the most tiny golden shimmer to just make your lips look so delicious.
Plus the packaging looks so luxurious. Holy cow, is this what being in love feels like? 17/10
Ever since I purchased the ‘Replica’ By the Fireplace fragrance by Maison Margiela back in November, I have been OB 👏 SESSED with their perfumes. Every time I wear that fragrance it blows my mind how long I smell delicious. I’ll catch a whiff of myself right before I hope in the shower after a long day of working, eating, gym-ing, and it smells like I just sprayed it.
II try to reserve By the Fireplace for the holidays to that it maintains that memory for me, but when I saw that Maison Margiela released Coffee Break, I figured this would be a great warm fragrance for the rest of the year. AND I WAS RIGHT. This bad boy smells so good. And with notes of Coffee Accord, Lavender, and Milk Mousse Accord, it was right up my alley.
‘ve only ever purchased one other perfume without smelling it in person before and it turned out horribly so this was a huge leap of faith for me and wow, did it turn out well. This perfume smells INCREDIBLE. Unfortunately, it doesn’t last nearly as long as my other Replica perfume (I think I got a solid 4-5 hours), but honey you’re gonna have a great time while it’s on.
This is a new product for me. I picked it up because I’ve switched back and forth between the BareMinerals Pure Plush Gentle Deep Cleansing Foam and the Squalane Cleanser from The Ordinary. In my Ulta haul, I mentioned that I liked the BareMinerals cleanser desipte it leaving my face a bit dry after use. Wellllllll, the more I use it, the more I realize I prefer the way my face felt after using the Squalane Cleanser from The Ordinary which didn’t strip my skin. The only downsides with the Squalane Cleanser are that 1. it’s pretty pricy per ounce, and 2. it doesn’t foam up at all. I know that foaming is more of a placebo to make you feel like you’re cleaning better, but I just need it okay!
So the hunt to find a new cleanser began and now you’re all caught up! I love this cleanser as the second step to a double cleanse. I remove all my makeup with a balm (see below) and then I go in for round two with this bad boy and it works so well at gently removing any remaining excess oils without stripping my skin at all.
Now, if you had a particularly makeup heavy day, I don’t know how well this would work. It’s not a heavy duty cleanser by any means, so keep that in mind.
If you read my recent Ulta Haul blog, you’ll know that I’ve been making the switch towards all cruelty-free brands because honestly people, it’s 2020; why on earth are you still testing on animals???
But I digress.
In that blog I mentioned that the Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm was a holy grail of mine, and it was…UNTIL NOW. I’ve been using this glorious product for about a week now and I love it so much that I marched the Clinique balm right back to Ulta. The Drunk Elephant balm does a fantastic job removing every spec of makeup. And I mean every spec. This includes the waterproof mascara that I wear every day (for when I watch cute animal videos, duh).
Not only does it remove all my makeup, but it does it with such ease. The Clinique balm would remove like 90% of my makeup but would really struggle with the mascara. I had to sit with it and massage it in for at least a few minutes each night and it was such a pain. Haven’t you heard, time is money baby! So, alas, I have made the switch and am officially happily committed to Drunk Elephant.
Technically I got this for my mom, buuuuut I’ve used it and enjoyed it in the past so here we go. This is a great pore filling primer. Please note that I said “pore filling” not “pore minimizing.” This is because “pore minimizing” is a marketing gimmick. No product will minimize your pores. They just are the size that they are, unfortunately.
That being said, this primer does a solid job filling them in which is just as good. I actually much prefer this primer to the Benefit Porefessional, which is a cult favorite. I think the Smashbox version uses less product while providing a higher coverage which is what we’re all going for, right?
Alright, let’s just keep this Bum Bum train moving, shall we? When I saw that Sol de Janeiro released a body scrub a few weeks ago, I was devastated by the price point because of course I wanted it immediately. This scrub has a might high price tag for something you can DIY for about $5, but YOU GUYS THE SMELL I CAN’T. I literally can’t resist it. I need help. Anyone know a good therapist who deals with irrational shopping habits? #AskingForAFriend
Of the three Rio de Janeiro products I got in this haul, this is by far my favorite. It’s the perfect use for the scent where I can douse myself in it completely for a few minutes and then wash the majority of it off so it’s not overpowering.
In addition to smelling simply divine, it has a great scrub – not too granular but not too abrasive either. It did a great job at removing all the dead skin on my arms. It did, however, slightly irritate my incredibly sensitive legs. Bummer, yes, but I’m still going to continue using it on the rest of my body.
Not only is the scrub here, fantastic, but it also leaves behind a good amount of oil to keep you nice and moisturized when you get out of the shower.
Sol De Janeiro Brazilian Joia Shampoo & Conditioner – Sample
Look, I’m a sucker for the scent, okay. I really don’t know what to tell you. It was a free sample. I couldn’t say no. Sue me.
Unfortunately, I didn’t love this. Although it made no claim to moisturize my hair, I found that the shampoo actually dried it out quite a bit. Smelled wonderful, but I would not repurchase this.
Algenist Genius Liquid Collagen – Sample
I picked up this sample because the Algenist Genius Liquid Collagen is a staple in my collection. At a whopping $115 per bottle, it’s certainly not a staple that I enjoy every day, but it’s something that I will continue to repurchase every time I run out. So when I saw this sample for literally $0, I added it to my cart so fast I almost sprained my shopping finger.
I particularly enjoy this product when I have some kind of imperfection that I’m targeting. For example if I get a sunburn on my face or a pimple, I’ll blast it with this stuff and it’ll be visibly improved overnight. I do, however, reserve this product for my face and use it sparingly obviously. If I have larger issues like a full body sunburn (which eww, don’t do that), I’ll use a more inexpensive collagen, but the trick works just the same.
Alright friends, this was my impulsive Summer Sephora haul. I was happy to see that the Sephora two day shipping is back to normal, not that I was upset during the pandemic or anything. Everything arrived in tip top shape just as I would expect. And although not all these products were winners, I definitely discovered some new favorites.
